About a mile in the direction of Piombino from the St. Lucia are the "Piane Alte". This is not a real shoal, is a point where the bottom forms a wall from 45 to 30 meters on the north side. Here we find many lobsters, groupers, forkbeard fishes, conger, moray eels and all around school of breams and snappers, interspersed with a few lonely barracuda. Being the only rocky point between miles and miles of sandy bottom, this is a place of hunting for pelagic fish and shelter for other species that are created a den in this area.
